Teobaldo Cappellano is a legend and traditionalist in Barolo. Together with Bartolo Mascarello and Beipi Rinaldi he formed Piedmont’s most important bastion against the increasing modernization of Barolo.

From the early beginning Cappellano never used cultured yeasts or enzymes and he did not participate in the trend to use new French barriques. The vineyards are now certified organic. He also continues to not participate in any wine ratings or competitions. He says, those rating influence the wine makers to change their wines regarding the opinion of the reviewers. Of course this leads to the fact, that Cappellano is not that well known all over the world (maybe good for those who had the pleasure to already know him J). After Teobaldo died in 2009, his son Augusto took over.

The Cappellano Barolos are timeless masterpieces. For the lovers of traditional Barolos, Cappellano is one of the first addresses. The wines are able to age for an extremely long time. Another great attribute is their overall harmony and sense of completeness.

Just arrived: Cappellano Barolo Pie Franco 2007 and Cappellano Barolo Otin Fiorin Pie Rupestris 2007.
